At Volunteer Wheels, we believe in a community-driven solution to help our neighbors access vital benefits. That's why we accept nearly any vehicle, drivable or not. Whether you have an old car, a motorcycle collecting dust, or a truck that no longer runs, your donation can make a significant difference. Not only do we help you clear out your unwanted vehicle, but the funds raised from your donation support our free benefits-research service for local residents. Join us in making Tennessee a better place for everyone!
Categories we accept
Typically, cars and sedans are auctioned off to the highest bidder. If a vehicle is not roadworthy, we may part it out or recycle it responsibly while ensuring any usable parts benefit our mission.
In urban areas like Nashville and Memphis, sedans are a common sight, perfect for donation as they help neighbors access crucial services.
Pickup trucks are often sold at auction, and if in poor condition, we may salvage parts. Many donators find that their trucks can still offer value to someone in need.
With many folks in rural Tennessee relying on pickups, your donation can ensure that others have access to transportation for work and errands.
SUVs and crossovers are frequently auctioned or sold as-is if still drivable. Otherwise, they may be dismantled for parts to maximize their value.
Given the family-oriented nature of Tennessee, these vehicles are often ideal for families in need of reliable transportation.
Motorcycles are typically sold at auction, and if non-running, we may strip them for parts to support other donations.
From the Smoky Mountains to the backroads, motorcycles are popular in Tennessee, and your donation helps support fellow riders when they need it most.
These are often sold at auction or, if in poor shape, dismantled for parts. Many donators find it fulfilling to help others enjoy outdoor adventures.
With Tennessee's great outdoors, RV donations help fellow citizens explore our beautiful parks and campsites.
Boats are often auctioned or sold for parts if they are not in working condition, providing extra funds towards our mission.
From the Tennessee River to Norris Lake, your boat donation can help those who love to spend time on the water gain access to important services.
Commercial vehicles are sold at auction, and if not functional, they are often recycled for parts, aiding our funding efforts.
As Tennessee’s economy grows, these vehicles help local entrepreneurs, and your donation can support them in navigating challenges.
Even if a vehicle isn't running, it can still generate funds through parts or recycling, contributing to local support services.
Many folks in rural Tennessee may find old vehicles useful for parts or scrapping, helping the community thrive sustainably.
Condition guide
When considering donating your vehicle to Volunteer Wheels, it's important to understand the condition categories that we accept. Running vehicles are the most straightforward; they can be auctioned off for immediate funding. Non-running vehicles are also accepted. While they may not generate as much directly at auction, they can still be valuable through parts or recycling.
Vehicles with salvage titles are accepted on a case-by-case basis, as are rebuilt or reconstructed vehicles. Lienholder-present vehicles can complicate the donation process, but we may be able to find a solution. If a title is missing, we encourage you to contact us for guidance, as it can affect the donation process.
Title status
| Title status | Accepted? | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| clean title | yes | A clean title means the vehicle is fully owned and can be sold directly, maximizing benefits for our programs. |
| salvage | with restrictions | Salvage titles may limit resale options, but we assess them to determine possible avenues for donation. |
| rebuilt/reconstructed | case-by-case | Rebuilt titles require further evaluation to ensure safety and legality before accepting the vehicle. |
| lienholder present | case-by-case | Vehicles with lienholders can complicate matters, but we work with you to navigate the donation process. |
| missing title | case-by-case | A missing title can complicate donations, but we encourage you to contact us for help in resolving this issue. |
